UTE Model 500 Straightener — demo
This Model 500 was used for demo's and prototype production in UTE's stamping and fabrication facility and has been well maintained. Controlled by an AB Micrologix PLC, it's simple to operate and set-up for production.General Specifications
| How the M500 Works | The Model 500 Straight-O-Matic system is designed to straighten larger flat or irregularly shaped metal parts, stampings, bars, forgings, or castings — with or without offsets or projections, before or after heat treating. It performs substantially higher production rates than required for hand or press straightening, and can be run by unskilled operators. Parts can be out of straightness in varying amounts and at different locations and will be brought within the same straightness tolerance. No measuring before or after is required, other than occasional quality control check. The straightening action of the machine moves the parts beyond their elastic limit — and brings them back to a straight condition. This also stress relives the parts so that they retain their straightness. The Model 500 Straight-O-Matic system consists of basic machine with adjustable tooling stations that will accommodate a variety of parts. The side plates of the machine are actuated by rotary cams, which transmit alternate reciprocal strokes to the tooling stations. Maximum bending moments, set as desired, are first gradually decreased until the tooling returns to a straight position. At this point, the tooling automatically opens, allowing removal of the straightened part and allowing another bent part to be inserted easily without force. |
