As a mechanical engineer at Universal Tool and Engineering, responsibilities will include designing tool and die sets for CNC tube bending machines, end formers, punch machines, stamping dies, and various tooling and machine components. It is required to interact and work with the production supervisor, shop foreman, technicians, and machinists. Communicating with sales representatives and customers is also a vital component in producing the correct tooling for the customer. There are times when multiple projects will be active at one time and focus will need to be changed from one project to another. Occasionally the mechanical engineer will be required to take measurements off machines to produce a tooling design or reverse engineer a customer’s tooling. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, hardworking, determined, and mechanically inclined.
